Person-Centred Counselling

Person-centred counselling, often known as client centred or Rogerian therapy, is usually a longer term therapy. It is based on the view that everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change in the presence of the right conditions.

The counsellor offers empathetic understanding, congruence and unconditional positive regard in the therapeutic relationship, in order to help a client freely express emotions. This is thought to aid the client in developing their inner resources and result in therapeutic change.
