Dr-Julian recognises it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements.
We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, for example, in the areas of energy use and travel. Continually improving our environmental performance is an integral part of our business strategy and operating models.
As a fully distributed organisation, we’ve already lowered our environmental impact.
Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced before the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: April 2023 – April 2024 (first assessment) 32.59 (tCO2e)
Baseline calculations
Our first baseline calculations were taken for the 12-month period April 2023-April 2024.
Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) are not applicable being a primarily remote business.
Scope 3 (business operations) is applicable.
Considerations included within our baseline calculations include, but were not restricted to:
- Homeworking heating/cooling
- Employee commuting/travel
- Business/in-work travel inc hotels
- Additional/purchased goods and services
Considerations not included within our baseline calculations include, but were not restricted to:
- Upstream transportation and distribution
- Waste generated in operations
- Downstream transportation and distribution
Emissions reduction targets/commitment to achieving Net Zero
Dr Julian Medical Group Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 1 January 2026.
In order to progress to achieving Net Zero by our target date, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
Year 1 – reduction to 25 (tCO2e)
Year 2 – achieve NetZero
Carbon reduction projects
The following environmental management measures and projects have been or will be implemented following our initial baseline assessment in 2024:
- Changes to policy resulting in environmentally responsible company travel, where possible.
- Environmental support including contribution to the planting of sustainable trees/woodland to support the offset of carbon emissions.
- Review operational costs associated with the delivery of customer/client services including:
Suppliers
- At initial engagement and supplier re-assessment, prioritise suppliers that have a published Carbon Reduction Policy and/or are already demonstrating that they are carbon-neutral and/or have committed to achieving net zero and/or deliver services in an energy-efficient manner over those that do not.
- Reflect the above requirements in the Dr-Julian published Suppliers Policy.
Our published Carbon Reduction Policy and Plan are available to interested external parties upon request.
